Staffing update

This term has brought some staffing changes. We said a temporary farewell to Kim Holmes and Emma Austin, who are both taking 12 months' leave. We are delighted to welcome Sally Rochford back to HEPS as the teacher of 2KH and extend a very warm welcome to Sun Pezzimenti, who has joined our team as our new Performing Arts teacher.

Ruby Whitfield and Jen Ross have commenced maternity leave, and we congratulate them and wish them every happiness during this exciting time. We look forward to welcoming Ally How in Term 3, who will be joining our Sustainability program.  We said goodbye to Emme Duncan who was a tremendous Education Support staff member who has a very bright future in teaching ahead of her.

As many of you are aware, Anita has been asked by the Department of Education to support another school during Term 3. During this time, Lou will be Acting Principal. Jason Mulder will continue in the Acting Assistant Principal role, and Danae Maxwell-Wright will join the Level 5 teaching team for Term 3. We thank each of them for their willingness to take on these important leadership and teaching responsibilities.

What an amazing Production (Pirates of The Curry-Bean) we witnessed last week! The Round in Nunawading was the perfect venue for such a swashbuckling spectacular, and our students truly shone on that big stage. Once again, thank you to all the incredible students who performed so brilliantly. A special thank you to Emma and the Production team for all the time, effort, and dedication you poured into making the show such a tremendous success. Thank you also to our wonderful Art teachers, Jacinta and Sarah, for organising all of the student costumes and props. The stage looked absolutely incredible and really brought the whole pirate adventure to life!

Just a reminder that parents will be able to access reports via Compass from 4:00 PM Thursday 24th June. We encourage you to save a digital version of your child's report to access at a later date; this is especially important for our Level 6 students as they transition to high school.

Last week, students from five local schools came together for the High Ability Games at Great Ryrie Primary School. Through a range of collaborative challenges, students communicated, problem-solved and worked together to complete tasks while connecting with like-minded peers. A big thank you to Lily Luu for organising this fantastic event and providing such a valuable opportunity for our high-ability learners.

High Ability Program (Masterclass)

On Tuesday, our VHAP students took part in the Term 2 Victorian High Ability Masterclass, held at HEPS. As an extension of the VHAP program, our students were joined by students from Great Ryrie Primary School for a fantastic ½ day of learning. Across two sessions throughout the day, students problem solved, collaborated with like-minded peers, and challenged themselves in either a Maths or English Masterclass. It was a wonderful opportunity for our high ability learners to be stretched, inspired, and celebrated! Thank you to Mr Mulder for organising the session and ensuring our students have access to such a valuable and enriching experience!

Our Level 5 and 6 students had a brilliant day representing HEPS at the Winter Interschool Sport Round Robin Gala Day on Friday! Students were placed into teams and trained for their allocated sport before travelling by bus to compete at various venues. Students took part in a series of games across a range of winter sports, including AFL 9's, Soccer, Netball, Lawn Bowls, Touch Football and Softball all working towards establishing a district champion. It was a fantastic opportunity for our students to compete, connect, and represent their school with pride!

Supervision from 8.45 am

A reminder that students should not be at school before 8.45 am. There has been an increase in the number of students arriving without parents before this time, meaning that they are unsupervised. We kindly remind families that unaccompanied students should not be at school before 8.45am and if you need care prior to this time, TeamKids is available.

School holiday break

As we come to the end of another busy term, I would like to wish all our families a safe and enjoyable school holiday break. We hope this time provides an opportunity to relax, recharge, and enjoy some special time together as a family. For those travelling during the holidays, we wish you safe travels and a wonderful journey.

A reminder that the school grounds will be closed during the holidays while the old administration building is being demolished. For safety reasons, we ask that all families stay off the school site during this period. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday 13th June refreshed and ready for another great term of learning.
