School Council Update

Swimming Program – August

Our annual swimming program will take place at Aquanation from Monday 10th to Friday 14th August. This is a valuable opportunity for our students to build confidence in the water, develop essential safety skills, and enjoy learning in a different environment.

The Department of Education provides some funding towards the program; however, this does not fully cover the cost of delivering a five-day program, including transport, pool hire, and instruction. We sincerely thank the families who have already contributed, and warmly invite those who are able to do so to consider supporting the program. If you’re unsure how to contribute or have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the school for support.

Importantly, participation is not dependent on financial contribution, and we are grateful for the many ways our families support our school community.

Building Works Update

You will have noticed demolition works have now commenced on both the cottage and the main building. As parent’s it’s very encouraging to see this stage of the project now underway, marking a positive step forward in delivering improved facilities for our school. While there has been some short-term disruption, the progress is already evident, and we’re excited about the benefits this will bring with plans for a new playground underway.

School Vision and Values – Community Input

As previously mentioned a key focus for School Council at the moment is a review of the school’s vision and values, to ensure they continue to reflect our community and what we want for our children as learners and as people. As part of this process, we will be inviting parent and carer input through a small focus group.

If you would like to express interest in being involved, please contact us via the Heathmont East School Council email address (4819-schoolcouncil@schools.vic.edu.au). We would love to hear from a broad cross-section of our community as part of this important work.

Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support.

On behalf of School Council,

Matt McKean

School Council President
