Literacy

As we move into the second half of the term, students will begin exploring our class novel, Dirrarn. Through the text, students will develop their understanding of direct speech, with a focus on using appropriate punctuation correctly. They will also be encouraged to expand their vocabulary by exploring language used within the novel and applying it to their own writing tasks. In addition, students will receive explicit instruction on how to use adverbial phrases to add detail and improve the fluency of their writing.

Numeracy

In Numeracy, students will focus on fractions, with explicit teaching around adding and subtracting fractions with the same and related denominators. This learning will build on their prior knowledge of converting fractions with related denominators. Our non-number focus for the term will be Probability, where students will conduct chance experiments, record and analyse their findings, and describe outcomes using fractions.

Science

This term we will be emarking on a journey through the galaxy. Studying planets, stars and galaxies.
