Literacy
This fortnight, students will be completing a good copy of their animal information reports while continuing to strengthen their writing skills through sentence-level work, including using conjunctions, commas, pronoun references and interesting vocabulary choices as we wrap up our class novel study of The Iron Man by Ted Hughes. Students will also be exploring celebrations from around the world, learning about family traditions, religious celebrations, cultural celebrations, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander celebrations and symbols.
Vocab words
Billowed, blissful, fiercely, astonishment, astounded, challenge
Check out 3A drawing some very funky emu's for their animal reports.

Maths
In Maths, students will begin exploring angles by identifying their parts, finding angles in everyday objects and shapes, and learning how to recognise and create right angles. They will also compare different angle sizes, investigate turns and rotations, and use tools and templates to measure and check angles. Alongside this, students will explore patterns by following algorithms to generate number patterns and identify multiples while looking for rules and relationships in numbers. We are looking forward to seeing students discover that maths really is all around us!
Inquiry

We are continuing our learning about Government and exploring the important role local government plays in our communities. Students will learn about the roles of councillors, the mayor and the chief executive officer, and investigate how local government decisions and services impact our everyday lives. Through these learning experiences, students will develop a greater understanding of how communities are supported and governed.
Wellbeing
As we conclude our learning focus on Positive Coping and Problem Solving this term, students will continue participating in a range of activities and learning experiences designed to strengthen their problem-solving skills. To learn more, click the green button below to access the resource book.

Maths Open Afternoon
A huge thank you to all the families who joined us for our Maths Zoo Open Afternoon — it was fantastic to see so many smiling faces getting involved in the fun! Students and families explored activities including How Many Steps Around the Zoo, Wild Arrays, Amazing Animals, Escape the Zookeeper, Heads or Tails Trail and Roll, Tally and Roam, proving that maths can be hands-on, engaging and lots of fun. If your family enjoyed the activities and would like instructions to play some of these maths games at home, please don’t hesitate to reach out — we would love to share them!
Kitchen Garden
There has been plenty of fun, flavour and fresh air in Kitchen Garden! Students have been busy cooking up delicious chicken dumplings, fried rice and sweet corn soup while also showing off their green thumbs by tending to our garden. From planting and watering to chopping and cooking, our students have certainly kept themselves busy (and well fed!).

Cross Country
Massive congratulations to those students from Grade 3 who represented Skye Primary School at our district cross country. Not only were they absolute superstars on the track but they also demonstrated our school expectations throughout the whole day, making us incredibly proud. Very special congratulations to Blair Gentle who progressed to the next stage and has been training extra hard!
