Literacy:

National Simultaneous Storytime:

We loved taking part in National Simultaneous Storytime this week as we joined schools across Australia to read Luna Roo the kangaroo baller together.

In Little Learners, we have been reviewing all the heart words and sounds we have learnt so far.

In Writing we continued to look at fables. We are focusing on what a moral is and why authors used morals in their story. This week we read The Crow and the Stone Jar. Have a chat about what your child thinks the moral is. They could also have fun in the bath trying to make the water rise in a container.

Numeracy:

In math, we have been learning to represent and solve addition number stories within 20 using ten-frames, counters, unifix, and MS blocks. We are building our confidence with subitising (recognising numbers quickly) and using different strategies to find totals. We have also been exploring the concept of difference by comparing two groups, identifying how many more or less there are, and using pictures and materials to show our thinking. These activities are helping students strengthen their number sense and develop ways to solve problems within 20.
