Sports Update

SYDSA District Carnival

On Tuesday 20 February, a fantastic and eager team of 22 Junior students (Years 4 - 6) headed to MSAC to represent Shelford at the SYDSA District Carnival. Following a short lead in time and only a few trial and training sessions, the girls demonstrated tremendous sportsmanship taking to their event strokes supporting each other, with a great cheer squad (that could be heard from pool side up from the spectating area) and plenty of resilience and smiles throughout the day.

We couldn’t have been any prouder than when the results were called out, Shelford took the girls' school category win and placed third overall. Such a tremendous achievement for a small almighty team! We wish Anna K (below) who proceeds through to the next round at Divisions in a fortnight's time the best of luck. Well done everyone!

GSV Triathlon

We had a fabulous girls' contingency at last weekend's GSV Triathlon which was held on Sunday 25 February at Altona Beach Foreshore. Four teams amounting to 12 girls across Years 7-12 took on the challenge of completing either the swim, bike or run leg. Whilst we await the final results, we do believe we had a team in the top 10!

Though we are two thirds through the local Victorian triathlon series calendar, there are still a few exciting races that we encourage all girls interested to explore remembering that you don’t need to do the full triathlon yourself, as it is really fun to make up a team.
