Year 7 Update

Peer Support and Managing Friendships

Our Peer Support Program has begun for the year, and we have had a wonderful start. Our Year 7s have been actively engaged in the sessions, where they have explored personal strengths and discussion skills. It has been wonderful to see our students learning from their peers and building meaningful relationships across both year levels. These sessions are not just about imparting knowledge but also about nurturing a sense of belonging and support within our school community.

In addition to Peer Support, the Year 7s recently had the opportunity to delve into the intricacies of navigating friendships with Edith, one of our Counsellors. During this session, they had meaningful discussions about what makes a good friend and different friendship dynamics. Students were learning about how to set healthy boundaries, as well as what values are and what values we look for in friendships. What is truly inspiring is witnessing our students actively engage in these discussions, sharing insights with each other in a safe and supportive environment.

As we move forward to Year 7 Camp next week, I know this experience will provide further opportunities for them to bond, explore new challenges and strengthen the friendships and skills they have been cultivating.
