From our Counsellors
Hello from the Counselling Team
We’re Charlotte (Counsellor) and Edith (Psychologist) and we’re located in the counselling office opposite the science rooms. We provide confidential*, non-judgemental, and empowering counselling and support to the Shelford community.
We have spots available every period, at lunch and recess, and before and after school.
Charlotte’s work days | Monday | Thursday | Friday |
Edith’s work days | Tuesday | Wednesday |
WHAT WE SUPPORT STUDENTS WITH:
- difficulty managing workload – time management, organisation
- feelings of stress, overwhelm, anxiety, sadness
- social or friendship difficulties
- challenges with sleep or around food and eating
- upsetting or confusing situations at home or with family
- difficulty coping with loss or change and uncertainty
- difficulty understanding oneself, exploring one’s identity
Seeking support from a mental health professional may make some people feel nervous or uncomfortable, but we prioritise building trust, meeting each individual where they’re at, and addressing each person’s unique needs and circumstances. Counsellors and psychologists can be seen as guides, sounding boards, cheerleaders.
WAYS OF ACCESSING SUPPORT:
- dropping by the counselling room any time (we may be available to see you straight away, or we can book in a time)
- using the booking links at the bottom of this page to schedule in a suitable time
- initially emailing us to share and build more trust, before doing a session in person
- using Teams to do a session over video chat
- attending a session with a friend or trusted teacher
Please note that the Wellbeing team is also available to support parents and carers – at Shelford we recognise that children and teens exist within a broader family context and so part of supporting them involves supporting the adults raising and caring for them.
