What an outstanding effort from everyone involved in our Community Arts Fair!

We had an absolute blast celebrating our students’ incredible creativity and diverse talents. From dance performances to the glowing gallery installation, to the buzzing food trucks, fun games with prizes, live entertainment, and of course our amazing art show, Discover—every element came together beautifully.

The atmosphere was vibrant, welcoming, and full of energy. It was a joy to see families, friends, and community members engaging with every exhibit and performance, making the evening truly unforgettable.

A heartfelt thank you to all the students, teachers, parents, and volunteers who poured so much effort, imagination, and care into making this event a success. You’ve helped create something memorable—an experience that truly reflects the spirit of creativity and collaboration that defines our school community.

Miss Hemmings and Ms Van Etten

Mandarin

Prep students have been practising writing 你好 ni hao - hello and 再见 zai jian- Good bye in Chinese characters. They have been doing a fantastic job learning how to greet each other in Mandarin, and it has been wonderful to see their excitement and enthusiasm for learning Chinese.

Grade 1 students have been learning how to recognise, write and count Chinese numbers. They practised identifying Chinese number characters in a worksheet and coloured them according to the number key. Everyone did a fantastic job spotting the characters and colouring carefully.

Grade 5 students have been learning how to ask, answer, and write simple sentences in Mandarin. They practised questions such as “What is your name?”, “What grade are you in?”, and “When is your birthday?”. Students were able to confidently ask the questions, respond with their own answers, and write the sentences in Chinese.

Grade 6 students have been learning about transportation in Mandarin. They have been practising how to ask, answer, and write questions such as “How do you get to school?” and “How does your dad get to work?”. Students are learning to use different transport vocabulary to form their own questions and responses.

你们真棒！You are all amazing!

Physical Education

Level F- 2

To finish Term 1 in PE, our F–2 students have finished with the wonderful gymnastics program after weeks of practising and developing their fundamental movement skills. We were very fortunate to have Luke from Melbourne Tumbling Academy working with our students, guiding them through a range of engaging activities and teaching key gymnastics skills in a fun and supportive environment.

To celebrate the end of the term, students enjoyed participating in some exciting games and activities, including Monster Ball and Hula Hoop Rock, Paper, Scissors. It was a fantastic way to finish the term, with lots of smiles, laughter, and active participation from everyone involved.

Level 3 & 4

In Levels 3 and 4, students have continued developing their skills in net and wall sports through learning and playing tennis. Throughout the term, they have focused on key skills such as forehand and backhand shots, serving, rallying, and positioning, while also building their understanding of rules, scoring, and game play.

Students showed great improvement in their coordination, control, and teamwork as they participated in a variety of drills, partner activities, and modified games designed to build confidence and skill.

To celebrate the end of the term, students had a fantastic time taking part in the ever-popular Hula Hut Showdown, finishing the term with plenty of energy, teamwork, and fun.

Level 5 and 6

Throughout the term, they focused on key skills such as forehand and backhand shots, serving, rallying, and positioning, while also building their understanding of rules, scoring, and effective game play.

Students demonstrated great improvement in their coordination, control, communication, and teamwork as they took part in a variety of drills, partner activities, and modified games designed to build confidence and refine their skills.

To celebrate the end of the term, students had a fantastic time participating in the ever-popular Hula Hut Showdown, finishing Term 1 with plenty of energy, teamwork, and fun.

Science

Foundation

The Foundation students have had a wonderful time studying Living Things - Food, Shelter and Water. They considered these needs for their special visitor, Lizzie the Blue Tongue Lizard.

Level 1 & 2

Level 1 and 2 students have been studying movement and analysing whether an action is a push or pull. They also decided what factors lead to a stronger push or pull. They loved the activities including Tug of War, Castle Siege, Egg Crossing, Push and Pull Robot and some classes created a Cartesian Diver.

Level 3 & 4

Level 3 and 4 have determined what factors make an experiment a fair test. The students participated in 'sticky water' on a 5 cent piece, what ball is best for downball, ruler drop reaction time and 'Wilko's Wacky World of Science' paper towel investigation.

Level 5 & 6

Level 5 and 6 have been investigating Our Solar System in greater detail, focussing on planet rotation, orbit and gravitational pull. They enjoyed converting their standing jump into a Moon and Jupiter jump, considering how gravity would effect their high jumps and learning more about the other planets.
