What an amazing first term of school it has been. Thank-you so much for all your support right from the beginning of the year. It has flown by and it is exciting to see how much learning has taken place over the first 40 days of school.
These were some of the student's favourite highlights across the term:
-Art Fair
-Core Literacy
-Card deck
-Developmental Play
-Dancing
-Learning lots of numbers
-Making lots of new friends
-Meeting our buddies
-Easter egg hunt
-Playing on the yellow slide
-Fire brigade visits

Students have learnt g, d and o over the past two weeks. They are always so excited to be learning new letters. During our writing sessions, we have been continuing to use letter charts to support their spelling and to help them begin to form short sentences with some independence. They have absolutely loved writing full sentences, making sure to include a capital letter at the beginning and a full stop at the end.
Here are some holiday reading/writing ideas

Heart Words:

In Maths students have been developing their understanding of two and three step patterns. They have had a go at making their own. We have continued to build on our subitising skills through a fan favourite game 'Quiz, Quiz, Trade'. This is when students subitise their partner's collection, before moving on to another partner. It has been great to see student's confidence building in these skills as well as building skills as a positive partner. We have continued to keep our learning as hands on as possible and students are now using a range of manipulatives well to support their learning.
Last but not least, we have been reviewing our tally marks and how these can be used as a simple and effective way to collect and organise data.

In Wellbeing, we have continued to work through our learning of the Zones of Regulation to help students recognise and understand their emotions. Through engaging activities, students have been acting out different feelings and discussing how emotions can look and feel in our bodies. We have also been exploring how we might be feeling if we are in the 'Blue Zone' and what might help as to move back towards the green zone.

We hope you have a terrific break! We will see you in Term Two.
Please reach out to us if you require any support or have any questions at all.
Kind regards,
Alex Whittle (0A) and Kate Clark (0B)
