Enjoy the break and stay safe .

Despite the inclement weather on Friday, our Arts Fair was a wonderful success! It was fantastic to see so many families coming together and creating such a warm, vibrant community atmosphere. With ice cream, hot chips, dancing, art installations, fantastic games, and so much more, it was truly a memorable evening for everyone involved.
A big thank you to all those who generously gave up their time to help make the event such a huge success your support and effort are greatly appreciated by our whole community.

In honour of our 'You Project', our Level 5's have been focusing on information reports on the human body. We have investigated the importance of sleep, healthy food and regular exercise, and the impact of this on our nervous, digestive, and cardiovascular systems.

Students have worked collaboratively in their learning teams to find the missing pieces of information reports and use their knowledge of the structure and content of information reports to arrange it in the correct order and with the correct features. They have summarised the main idea of informative paragraphs by identifying the topic sentence and key vocabulary and used this evidence to accurately recall the main idea.

Students have been enjoying their literacy groups, which have given them an opportunity to apply the literacy skills learnt in our core lessons to independent tasks. Students' confidence in reading out loud has continued to flourish in our reading fluency program and guided reading groups. Thank-you for all your support in encouraging students' commitment to read for 20-minutes a night at home.

Next term, we are looking forward to integrating our new inquiry topic into literacy, which will be Australian history.
In Numeracy, students have continued to develop and apply their understanding of decimals, building on their place value understanding and number sense using real world contexts. A key focus has been making connections between decimals, fractions and percentages, with an emphasis on understanding equivalence and how these different representations relate to the same quantity.
Students explored how to convert between forms and used visual models to support their thinking. This has helped strengthen their ability to reason about numbers and recognise relationships between parts-of-whole numbers.
To consolidate their learning, students created posters where they chose a decimal and represented it in as many ways as possible. This included number lines, naming and re-naming, visual models, fractions, percentages and comparing with other decimals. This task encouraged flexible thinking and a deeper understanding of decimal numbers.
It has been fantastic to see the progress students are making, particularly in their ability to make connections between representations and apply their knowledge with confidence!
The ‘You Project’
In the last week of term students have presented their YOU Projects to their peers, and we were delighted to see so many balanced and thoughtful plans. Their work was neat, well organised, and highly creative, clearly demonstrating a strong understanding of the food wheel and the important role that nutrition, exercise, sleep, and hydration play in maintaining our overall wellbeing.
It was fantastic to see students confidently sharing their ideas and reflecting on their own habits, with many showing a real awareness of how to make positive, healthy choices in their everyday lives. The effort and care that went into each project was evident, and students should feel proud of the way they planned, presented, and communicated their learning.
Warm regards,
The Level 5 Team - Michelle, Cazz and Katie
