Important Reminder: Keeping Your Contact Details Up to Date
Ensuring the safety and well-being of our students is our highest priority. One critical aspect of this is having accurate and current information about each student and their family.
We kindly ask all parents and caregivers to promptly notify the school office of any changes to personal details, including:
· Home address
· Phone numbers (mobile and landline)
· Emergency contact information
· Medical information or allergies
· Custody arrangements
Having up-to-date information allows us to communicate effectively with you regarding your child's progress, upcoming events, and any urgent matters. In the case of an emergency, accurate contact details enable us to respond quickly and appropriately.
To update your details, please email the school office, elderslie-h.school@det.nsw.edu.au
Thank you for your cooperation and support in keeping our school community safe and connected.
Attendance
We would like to remind you of our procedures regarding student absences.
Absent from School: If your child is unable to attend school due to illness, family commitments, appointments, or any other reasons, please notify us as soon as possible.
You can do this by:
· Calling the school office to report the absence
· Sending an email to the school with your child's name, year group, and the reason for the absence
· Submitting a request through the Sentral for Parents app
· Responding to the text message you will receive once the rolls are marked
Upon your child's return to school, please ensure they bring any medical certificates or notes to the student office.
Lost property
As we transition into the cooler months, we want to remind everyone of the importance of keeping our students warm and comfortable during school hours. Here are a few key points to consider:
1. Dress for the Weather: As temperatures drop, please ensure your child is dressed appropriately in full school uniform for the cooler weather. Layering is a great way to keep warm. Consider sending your child with the school jacket over their school jumper.
2. Labelling Clothing: To help us manage lost items, we kindly ask that you label all your child’s clothing with their name. This includes jackets, jumpers, and hats. Clearly labelling items will make it easier for us to return lost clothing to its rightful owner and helps your child keep track of their belongings.
3. Encourage Responsibility: Please remind your child to take care of their clothing and personal items. Encourage them to check that they have all their belongings before leaving any classroom or outdoor area.
Contacting the School
In our ongoing effort to enhance communication within our school community, we would like to remind you of the importance and convenience of emailing the school (elderslie-h.school@det.nsw.edu.au) for any inquiries or concerns.
Email communication provides a direct and efficient way to connect with our staff, whether you have questions about your child’s progress, need clarification on school policies, or would like to speak directly with a school staff member.
Here are a few tips to ensure your email is received and addressed promptly:
1. Use Clear Subject Lines: When emailing, please include a clear and specific subject line that summarises your message. This helps our staff prioritise and respond to your inquiry more effectively.
2. Be Concise but Detailed: While we appreciate brevity, providing enough detail about your concern or question will help us assist you more effectively. Include relevant information such as your child’s name, year group, and any specific details related to your inquiry.
3. Allow Time for Response: Our staff is committed to addressing your emails as quickly as possible. However, please allow for a reasonable response time. Please remember that staff members have scheduled classes and meetings.
Important Health Information for Our School Community
As we continue to prioritise the health and safety of our students, we want to remind you of the importance of keeping our school office informed about your child's health needs. If your child has been newly diagnosed with a health condition, requires medication during school hours, or if there are any changes to their current medication requirements, please notify us as soon as possible.
It is essential for us to have up-to-date information to ensure we can provide the best care for your child while they are at school. Please remember that we are unable to administer any medication without a doctor’s letter and completed paperwork provided by the school. This policy is in place to protect the health and wellbeing of all our students.
If your child needs to take medication at school, please follow these steps:
1. Obtain a Doctor’s Letter: This letter should specify the medication, dosage, and administration schedule.
2. Complete a Student Health Support request form: This document outlines your child's health needs and the procedures we need to follow during school hours.

3. Submit Documentation and Medication: Please bring the doctor’s letter and completed healthcare plan to the school office for our records. Medication should be provided in either the original packaging from the pharmacy with the student's name and dosage; or in a blister pack from the pharmacy, noting the Expiry of the Medication.
4. If students are required to carry their own medication including EpiPen or Asthma reliever, paperwork needs to be completed and submitted to the school for approval.
Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated and will help us ensure a safe and supportive environment for all students. If you have any questions or need assistance with the process, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.
Kind regards,
Elderslie High School Administration Team
