Work Experience- Gaining skills in the real world of work
Work experience provides real life experience in the industry or occupation of their choice. Students can be inspired and motivated by the people they meet and benefit from connecting with employers. Students must be at least 14 years old to participate.
Year 9 & 10 students are encouraged to participate in work experience at least once through the year. Students can try multiple occupations over the year to give them a good sense of what they may and may not be interested in. Students who attend work experience are placed on school business; therefore, the absence does not affect their attendance.
Interested students can visit the careers office for further information and the Student Placement Forms. Students will also complete the My Work Experience Modules prior to attending work experience. https://www.myworkexperience.com.au/auth/login

Understanding UAC: A Guide for Parents of Year 12 Students
As your child prepares for life after school, the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) plays a central role in helping them apply for university courses across NSW and the ACT. Here’s what families need to know as the application season approaches.
What Is UAC?
UAC is the organisation that processes most university applications for NSW and ACT institutions. Through one online portal, students can apply for multiple degrees and manage their preferences.
Learn more: https://www.uac.edu.au
How the Application Process Works
1. Create a UAC Account Students enter their personal details, Year 12 student number, UAC PIN, and USI.
2. Choose Course Preferences Students can list up to five preferences and change them anytime before offer deadlines.
3. Offer Rounds Most Year 12 offers are released in December and January. Students receive one offer per round—to the highest preference for which they qualify.

Early Entry: Schools Recommendation Scheme (SRS)
The SRS allows universities to make early offers based on school ratings and Year 11 results—not just the ATAR. This can provide early peace of mind for students.

UAC provides clear resources to help families understand how the ATAR is calculated and how universities use selection ranks.

Future Teachers Club - Learning Today…Leading Tomorrow!
Elderslie High School has launched Future Teachers Club for interested students in Year 8 to 12. The Club is for students interested in becoming an Early Childhood Educator, Primary School or High School Teacher or any other career in Education. Everyday, Elderslie High School staff see students who show leadership, organisational skills, empathy and qualities that would make a great Future Teacher. The students are looking forward to teacher observations, university visits, primary school programs and ultimately teaching micro lessons throughout the year. Our Year 10 Future Teachers have already led Year 4 Primary school students in a Scavenger Hunt and Minute to Win It activities during their Taster Day. This club is recognised at Tertiary level and will help them on their pathway to University and beyond. The Future of Education looks bright with our students pursuing a career in this field.
