The Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge is now open and Essendon North Primary School is excited to be participating again in 2026.
The Reading Challenge encourages students to read a set number of books over the year and record their efforts online before the closing date in September. Since the Challenge first began in 2005, more than three million students across Victoria have read nearly 50 million books! The Challenge is not a competition but an initiative to improve literacy skills and develop lifelong readers and learners.
If you would like your child to take part in the Challenge, please email me at the address below. Enrolments will close by Friday 1st May. Alternatively, there has been an enrolment sheet in the library for older students to sign and register themselves. If your child has not received their login details as yet, please make a note of the titles they have read, and I will endeavour to have their passcodes ready for the beginning of Term Two.
Please note that this is an extracurricular activity run through the library, not by classroom teachers. It is not a compulsory activity, but students are strongly encouraged to take part.
