Friendly Reminder:  Please ensure your child is in the correct school uniform and has their name on items that come off and on during the day. This includes jumpers and jackets. We have a lot of lost property at school to check if needed.

Health Reminder: To help keep all of our students and staff healthy, we kindly ask that children who are unwell remain at home to rest and recover. If your child has vomited or had diarrhoea, please ensure they stay home for at least 24 hours after the last episode before returning to school. This helps prevent the spread of illness within our community. Thank you for your support in keeping everyone safe and well.

If your child has any sort of medical condition please ensure that you have updated the school and the class teacher.

This week we learnt about:

Religious Education: In Religious Education, we are learning about important events from Holy Week. Students are exploring the story of Jesus’ journey, including Palm Sunday, the Last Supper and Good Friday. Through discussions and activities, students are developing an understanding of why this time is important for Christians and the messages of love, sacrifice and hope.

Mathematics: In Maths, we have been completing progress monitoring to track student learning and identify areas for growth. We have also begun learning about time, including reading clocks, understanding hours and half hours, and developing an awareness of how time is used in everyday life.

Structured Literacy:  In Literacy, we are reading Amma’s Sari and exploring the themes and cultural elements within the story. Students are making connections to the characters and their experiences, and discussing the importance of family, traditions and identity. This text is also inspiring our writing, as students practise describing events and expressing their ideas with more detail and creativity.

Social & Emotional Learning: In Social and Emotional Learning, we are focusing on respect and diversity. Students are learning about the importance of valuing differences and treating others with kindness and understanding. Through discussions and activities, we are exploring how respect helps to build inclusive and supportive communities.

Integrated Studies: In Geography, we have continued our learning about the states of Australia, with a focus on Queensland, Tasmania, New South Wales, Western Australia and South Australia. Students have been exploring the different features, weather and locations of each state and comparing how they are similar and different.

How you can support at home:

Families play an important role in supporting learning at school, and there are many simple ways you can help at home.

  • Ask your child to tell you about the book we read this week. You can read the book together
  • Ask your child to tell you what they learnt about adding and subtracting.
  • Read with your child and ask them questions about the book
  • Practise handwriting, using upper case and lower case correctly
  • Practise telling the time on an analogue clock
  • Count forwards and backwards in tens from different numbers

These small, regular conversations help build confidence and reinforce learning in a meaningful way.
