Today We Walked for Water — And We Did It!

What an incredible day for our school community. Today, our students, staff, and families came together to “Walk for Water” in support of Caritas Australia — and we are thrilled to share that we surpassed our whole‑school goal of 500km by walking 710kms. Every class contributed with enthusiasm, determination, and a genuine sense of solidarity for children around the world who walk long distances each day just to access clean water.

Even more inspiring, at last count we have raised over $1000 to support Caritas programs that:

  • build sustainable water systems
  • improve sanitation
  • support education
  • empower communities to break the cycle of poverty

Our students have spent the past few weeks learning about the challenges faced by children who do not have reliable access to clean, safe water. Today’s walk helped them connect their learning to real action, showing empathy, leadership, and a commitment to making a difference.

Thank you to every student who walked, every teacher who encouraged, and every family who donated. Your generosity and spirit have helped bring hope and opportunity to communities in need.

Together, we walked for water and together, we made an impact.

Holy Week Ahead

Next week is Holy Week, one of the most important and meaningful times in our Catholic calendar. Throughout the week, the children will be learning about the significance of each day, the events that took place, and the people whose stories help us understand the depth of Jesus’ love and sacrifice.

They will explore Palm Sunday, the Last Supper, the washing of the feet, the Garden of Gethsemane, and the journey Jesus took to the cross. These lessons help our students connect with the story in a gentle and age appropriate way, giving them a sense of the hope and new life that Easter brings.

The week will culminate on Thursday when each year level gathers to pray the Stations of the Cross together.  This year marks the first time we have shared this experience in this way at St Thomas. It has been beautifully organised by the Jericho and Damascus teams, together with Media Arts students, whose creativity and care helped bring the story to life. Photos soon!

It will be a special week of learning, reflection, and faith for our whole St Thomas community. Be sure to check our socials for lots of updates.

Kind regards,
