Just like Una, Decie and Centie we are acquiring many skills to apply to Queen Infinity’s number riddles. Addison Wome taught us how to visualise the largest number in our mind and then count on using our fingers. Subtracto Wome showed us how these additive spells are the same in reverse regarding subtraction. Multiplicity Wome and Addison Wome have a magic friendship working together to find the sum of equal groups in different ways. Whether Addison adds three baskets of 3 carrots together or Multiplicity skip counts them they both make 9 carrots. Dividity Wome can also mirror Multiplicity’s magic in reverse. We are practising Wome magic making number bonds using the symbols of addition and subtraction to write sentences using the language of mathematics.
In English we are sounding out words and matching them to pictures during reading practice in our outdoor library now the sun is out. We continue to enjoy our literacy games such as Gnome’s home, Flounder of the sea, Sound pot and Alphabet Walk. Choral speaking, rhyme, song, gesture, mood, rhythm, sound, dialogue, narration and storytelling enhance our love of words, expression and communication in our Drama main lesson now, as we collaborate creatively towards our class play.
We continue to enjoy skip counting and skipping, recorder walks, clay and beeswax modelling, painting, finger knitting and spinning, and of course breadmaking with butter and jam. We also had an amazing time celebrating book week!
