Craft

It has been such a busy start to term three. Students were very productive getting the NAIDOC plaques made using airdried clay. We firstly experimented with a salt dough that students made but this proved challenging and not very successful. We then switched to different brands of air-dried clay experimenting with the different plaques with traditional Aboriginal designs. Some students even had time to create finger knitting to finish their mobile.
Students in classes one to six are enthusiastically continuing their knitting projects, which began in term two. As they complete their work, each student is given the opportunity to discuss and decide how they’d like to transform their knitting.
Some have chosen to follow a pre-set pattern, making a teddy bear, while others are unleashing their creativity to design unique toys, bags, or other imaginative creations.
Our Prep/one students are making great progress with their weaving on loom project. As they finish, they will soon move on to crafting God’s eyes and exploring various stitching, time permitting.
We are thrilled to announce that our artworks will be on display during the Parent Run Arts Festival. If you would like to be involved, see the Compass post.
The date has been set for Saturday 8th November, week 6 term 4.
We can’t wait to celebrate the creativity and talent of our students with you. We hope to see you there!
To support student learning, parents are invited to help in the art room.
You will need a current working with children check. Please sign in at the office before you come to the art room.
