Language and Cult

Kii, Deadly TPS community, biladu-njan wat/how are you all? And in the words of my Yawuru language...Ngaji gurrjin/Hello, how are you all!
We are continuing to practise and reinforce students’ knowledge, understanding and use of general Woiwurrung instructional language words and phrases being used in the classroom. I have been very impressed with the engagement some classes are having with their teachers in our efforts to strengthen our learning of Woiwurrung and broaden the use of this wonderful language across the school.
All classes are continuing to learn about the different sounds in the Woiwurrung language, and depending on students’ year level, the associated letter patterns used to record these sounds, regularly practising through fun activities, with many students showing their knowledge and skills in this area.
F-2 classes are currently learning the Woiwurrung names for some of the local animals which we use for our classroom totems, while students in Yrs 3-6 are focusing on developing their understanding, knowledge and skills of the conventions of some basic Woiwurrung grammar.
