Felicity in Boarding 

It has been wonderful to welcome our boarders back for Term 3. It didn't take long before the busyness of boarding life returned, with girls quickly settling back into routines, reconnecting with friends, and embracing all that the term has to offer.

We began the term by celebrating the opening of the Commonwealth Games with our own in-house competition. As always, the rivalry between Poyntz and Wigmore was fierce, as girls battled it out in a series of games involving cups, buckets, balloons and ping pong balls. While luck played a greater role than skill, the competition came down to the final seconds before Wigmore claimed victory on a technicality. Congratulations, Wigmore!

The first Sunday of each term is always set aside as a Community Day, an important opportunity for all the girls in the house to reconnect after the holidays. We began with Mass at St Ignatius Parish before returning to the Boarding House for a delicious brunch prepared by our talented chefs. One of the quiet gifts of belonging to a global Catholic community is the comfort found in its shared rituals and traditions. I hope that one day our boarders will travel the world, whether for study, work or adventure, and wherever life takes them, they may find reassurance in walking into a Catholic church and discovering something familiar. There is a quiet confidence in knowing that some traditions transcend geography, offering a sense of connection and belonging, wherever they may be.

Following Mass, the girls enjoyed our inaugural Boarders Got Talent. The afternoon showcased plenty of creativity, with our boarders demonstrating impressive content creation and video editing skills, alongside a healthy dose of humour and laughter.

Our weekend activities program has also recommenced, with girls already enjoying Winter Wonderland at Carrick Hill and this weekend looking forward to adventures at Tru Ninja and around the fire pit with s'mores.

Yesterday, we were delighted to welcome students and staff from Loreto Ballarat and Loreto Kirribilli for a special Christmas in July dinner. Our Year 10 girls proudly hosted tours of the Boarding House before everyone gathered to share a festive meal together.

While Term 3 is undoubtedly one of our busiest, it also serves as a reminder that fun and felicity have an important place in boarding life. Shared experiences and laughter are not simply enjoyable moments; they help build the friendships, resilience and sense of community that make Loreto Boarding House the special place it is.
