From the Principal 

Welcome to Term 3 

As we begin Term 3, I extend a warm welcome back to all our students, families and staff. I hope the break provided an opportunity to rest, reconnect with family and friends, and return refreshed for another exciting and rewarding term at Loreto College Marryatville. 

As you know, during the final week of Term 2 and the beginning of the term break, I had the privilege of travelling to Toronto with Mrs Sexton and Ms Scott to attend the International Coalition of Girls' Schools (ICGS) Global Forum. Before the conference commenced, we joined principals and selected staff from Loreto schools across Australia to visit Loretto College Toronto and the Loretto Centre, the women's college within St Michael's College, which is part of the University of Toronto. These visits provided a unique opportunity to connect with our Canadian Loreto colleagues and experience the history and spirit of these learning communities. 

Although our schools are separated by oceans and continents, they remain united by Mary Ward's enduring vision and a shared commitment to educating young women of courage, compassion and purpose. More than 400 years after Mary Ward's pioneering work, the values of freedom, justice, sincerity, verity and felicity continue to transcend geography, culture and time. They remain as relevant today as ever, affirming that a Loreto education is both timeless in its foundations and transformative in its impact. 

The ICGS Global Forum brought together educators from more than 580 girls' schools worldwide to explore the future of girls' education. A central theme was the importance of developing young women who lead not only with confidence and courage, but also with grace. In a world increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence, rapid change and global uncertainty, schools have a vital responsibility to nurture the qualities that technology can never replace: empathy, ethical judgement, creativity and authentic human connection. 

I was proud to attend alongside 17 representatives from Loreto schools across Australia. This strong representation speaks volumes about the leadership, influence, and the contribution of Loreto schools within the global girls' education community, and our shared commitment to educational excellence. The experience affirmed for me that Loreto College Marryatville is part of something far greater than our own campus, a global network dedicated to preparing young women to lead lives of purpose, compassion and courage.  

I look forward to seeing our students continue to flourish as we embark on another wonderful term together.
