Yr 8 Camp

Our Year 8 Camp was definitely one of the most memorable weeks at school I’ve had this year. Before we went, I was very excited, but also a little nervous, because I didn't exactly know what to expect. Looking back now, I had so much fun and made so many great memories with my friends.  

 

One of my favourite parts of Camp was getting to do all the different activities and spending time with everyone outside of school. I loved getting to know people more and working together as a team. One funny moment from the week was when we were hiking up Mount Lofty. We were walking on a log over a river and one of my friends slipped and her shoes got all wet! Everyone couldn't stop laughing, but that is just one of my many funny memories from camp. 

 

A moment that made me feel proud was when I did the mountain bike riding. I had not ridden my bike for a long time before that, but I did really well and had so much fun. I also stayed back from the main group to help and encourage my friends who were finding it challenging. 

 

Overall, Year 8 camp was such a great experience. It helped me become more confident and help me to appreciate nature more. I am so grateful that I got to go on camp with all my friends and I got to make so many memories that I’ll remember for a long time.

Year 11 Biology Excursion 

Our SACE Stage 1 Biology students had the exciting opportunity to visit Adelaide University (City East Campus) at the end of last term. During the excursion, the students participated in two engaging workshops, which complemented what they had studied in class over the semester. 

One workshop took place in a teaching laboratory and was led by Associate Professor Rietie Venter, Head of Microbiology. Students learnt how to work safely in a microbiology laboratory, along with some common diagnostic techniques. They used microscopes to classify bacteria as Gram-positive or Gram-negative, and observed different bacterial species on various types of agar plates. 

The other workshop took place at the Anatomy Museum, which has an extensive collection of preserved human and pathological specimens. Students enjoyed examining the different organs and trying to identify what was abnormal about them.

Outstanding Results in Activating Identities and Futures (AIF) 

We proudly congratulate our Year 11 students who recently completed their Stage 2 SACE Activating Identities and Futures (AIF) subject.

Their results are outstanding, with 97% of students achieving within the A or B grade band, and 53% gaining an A grade. This significantly exceeds the state average of 35%.

We extend special congratulations to Maria Barbaro and Elise Desteno who both achieved the exceptional result of an A+ and are potential merit recipients come December.

These achievements reflect the dedication and commitment of our students throughout Semester 1. We wish our remaining Year 11 students every success as they undertake 

their AIF studies throughout Semester 2.
