Learning & Teaching

Wantirna College Teacher Coaching Program

Teaching is well acknowledged to be a challenging profession with many studies ranking it amongst the most stressful professions due to the demand on teachers to switch attention, make countless micro-decisions in their classes, and regulate their emotions and the emotions/behaviours of the students. Teachers at the college all strive to improve their practice to reduce the impact of this stress and they are well supported through our teacher Instructional Coaching program.

During the Professional Learning day this week teachers participated in several sessions around practice improvement including Coaching conversations, demonstrating their teaching to their colleagues and receiving feedback on their practice that they implement immediately. We are excited by the professionalism and improvements shown by teachers and will continue this work through to the end of the year.

Term 3 Progress Reports

With the next industrial agreement about to be finalized we are returning to the normal reporting and assessment processes, and our term 3 Progress reports which report on students' learning behaviours and overall learning progress in addition to attendance measures, will be published at the end of this term.

Unit 3 and 4 VCE Exam Revision Program

We know that to reach your potential in VCE requires a lot of hard work by students and support from teachers and the College. We offer Year 12 students every opportunity to be successful in their VCAA exams, which start in October, through Learning Boost, Learning Recovery, assessment reschedules and dedicated VCE teachers who give support in their planning periods.

Students are also required to attend two additional opportunities in the Term 3 holidays, outlined below. Students have been made aware of these programs and the schedules have been provided.

Week 1: Mon 21 - Wed 23 Sept

Knox VCE Revision Program

Swinburne Uni

A series of workshop-lectures will be delivered by experienced VCE educators and past assessors of the VCAA exam. This year we are looking to really show force at Wantirna College and lead the way amongst the network so to increase the attendance we are offering prizes for attending.

If students sign up at Knox Revision Lectures 2026 and attend the lectures they will be given a raffle ticket and will go into the draw to win:

  • 1st Prize - Nintendo Switch 2

  • 2nd Prize - Noise cancelling Airpods 4

  • 3rd Prize - $150 Rebel Sports gift voucher

Week 2: Mon 28 - Wed 30 Sept

Unit 3 & 4 Practice Exam Program

Wantirna College

We have an extensive range of practice exams on offer this year to support students to prepare for the VCAA exams. Each session will appear as a Compass Event sometime next week. Exam clashes have been worked out and Kirsten Holness will schedule any exam clashes into the three-day program as Compass events. Students are expected to sit these exams and consent is required before the end of the term.
