House Athletics Carnival

Records shattered, rain falling and breathtaking costumes was the only way to correctly describe our 2026 House Athletics Carnival!  

For the first time in many years, the Carnival was accompanied by rain, wind and cold weather. However, despite the unfortunate weather events, participation remained high across the day with a plethora of records broken:  

Chloe Grund F14Yr 800m – 2:24.71 previous record was 2:34.98  

Chloe Grund F13Yr 1500m - 4:51.98 previous record was 5:35.00   

Sami Waddell F14Yr High Jump – 1.50m previous record was 1.45m   

Lukas Nguyen M14Yr 800m - 2:21.00 previous record was 2:22.24  

Lukas Nguyen M14Yr 1500m - 4:48.46 previous record was 4:51.98  

Alex Kokovitis & Max Graham M15Yr High Jump - tied the previous record of 1.60m  

It was another dominant performance from Byrne House as they followed their Swimming Carnival form and comfortably ran away with the win. 

They were followed by Mason in 2nd place, Collier not far behind in 3rd, and Rees rounding out the field in 4th.   

1st Place - Byrne House 1354 points  

2nd Place - Mason House 1085 points  

3rd Place - Collier House 1047 points  

4th Place - Rees House 929 points

16Yr Male – Pritam Kara 49 points 

17Yr Female - Keira Ellis 32 points 

17Yr Male - Charlie Hassett 40 points (back-to-back) 

20Yr Female - Keely Bonica 16 points 

20Yr Male - Ethan Howard 24 points  

Congratulations to the following Home Groups who scored the most points overall to their respective house:

1st - 7A with 194 points  

2nd - 7S with 191 points  

3rd - 9A with 161 points  

4th - 10F with 140 points  

5th - 10A with 135 points  

The Year 12’s delivered once again with their awesome costumes, my personal favourites being the GYG Burrito’s and the Teacher Doof Sticks. It's going to be a serious challenge for next year's Year 12’s to beat.  

Continuing on from our swimming success, Wantirna has had a staggering 112 students qualify for Knox Division Athletics in a variety of different events, displaying that even in harsh conditions Wantirna’s talented athletes are always able to excel. Wishing them the best of luck for the competition on Tuesday 1st September!
