Future Prep (Foundation) Enrolments

This page contains information for parents and carers on when and how to enrol their child in 2027 Foundation (Prep) at Saltwater P-9 College. 

Steps to enrol your child in Foundation (Prep) for the 2027 school year

To start primary school in 2027, your child will need to turn 5 years old by 30 April 2027. Schooling is compulsory for children who have turned 6 years old.  If your child is starting Foundation (Prep) in 2027, you will be able to apply to enrol your child in our school from Monday 20 April (Term 2, 2026), if you are in our school zone.

2027 Prep Enrolment Timeline

The Department of Education has a statewide Foundation (Prep) enrolment timeline.  The timeline advises families when and how to enrol their child into Prep at a Victorian government primary school, including Saltwater P-9 College.

 What you need to do:

1. Contact our school via email (saltwater.p9.co@education.vic.gov.au) to book a school tour. Our enrolment tours will be held on Friday mornings in May from 9.00am to 9.50am, beginning Friday 8 May 2026 until Friday 29 May, 2026.

2. Download the Prep enrolment information pack 1 from Enrolling in Foundation (Prep) (available by Monday 20 April 2026). This pack includes guidance on the application process.  

3. Submit an enrolment for Prep by Friday 31 July 2026 via our school website(https://saltwatercollege.vic.edu.au/school-enrolments/).

4. You will be notified of the outcome of your application by Monday 3 August and Friday 14 August 2026.  

5. If you receive an offer of placement, you should contact our school via email to accept the offer by Friday 28 August 2026.

6. Take part in enrolment information and transition sessions during Term 4, 2026.

7. Prepare your child to start Foundation (Prep) in January/February 2027.

Enrolment applications submitted after 31 July 2026 will be processed by our school as they are received, in accordance with the department’s Placement Policy.

Other year level enrolments 

We also accept enrolment applications for students in other year levels. You can submit a request at any time in the school year.  

Eligible students who live within our school zone are guaranteed a place, while students outside the zone may be enrolled if there are available places.
