What fun we have had in the art room this Term! We have explored using new materials like oil pastels and wool, students have been eager and excited to try out all our projects.

Currently our Junior students have finished up their Elmer artworks, they loved the brightness of oil pastels and that they could smudge and mix the colours to make their elephants more interesting. 

Our middle year students are experimenting with graffiti art, they have been learning what it is, regulations around graffiti art and about some famous graffiti artists like Banksy. They have then been working on their lettering skills to create their own piece of graffiti styled art. This has been a very exciting and engaging project. 

Finally the 5/6 class has been taking on a very individualised project around how they connection with others. After looking at a range artworks  focusing on the same theme they have begun developing their own piece. The students have been given autonomy over what they create and I am hopefully these pieces will make it to our Art Show in Term 4. 

It has been a wonderful term of creating and I can’t wait to continue after the Winter break. Enjoy your time off and see you in July!
