4/5A

Over the past three weeks, 45A has been busy exploring our Knowledge Building unit, focusing on our continental neighbours in Asia, Africa and South America. Students have thoroughly enjoyed learning about the geography, history and unique features of these regions. We have investigated famous landmarks, mountain ranges, rivers, cultures and important historical events, helping students develop a broader understanding of the world around them.

To make our learning even more engaging, we have linked our studies to the FIFA World Cup. Each student has been allocated a nation to support and research throughout the unit. This has sparked plenty of excitement, with students eagerly following their team's progress while learning more about the country's geography, culture and history. A special shout out goes to Caleb, who, thanks to the random wheel spinner, has become our resident expert on the tiny African nation of Cabo Verde. While it may not have been the country he was hoping for initially, he has embraced the challenge and uncovered some fascinating facts along the way!

Students are now working hard to complete an information report about their adopted nation. Throughout the writing process, they have been developing a range of important literacy skills, including writing informative paragraphs, creating labelled maps, constructing Venn diagrams to compare countries, and developing glossaries of technical vocabulary. It has been fantastic to see the pride students are taking in their work and the depth of knowledge they are building about different parts of the world. We look forward to sharing some of their finished reports at the parent teacher conferences next week
