Author Visit

URSULA  DUBOSARSKY

St Mary’s was very fortunate to have author and Australian Children’s laureate 2020-2021 Ursula Dubosarsky visit our school last week to speak with children in Year 3 and 4.

Ursula shared her love of writing and her journey from an early age to become an author. She spoke about a number of her books and the inspiration and meaning these books have.

Ursula had with her a magpie statue which she explained is the laureate logo representing a passionate Australian creator of literature and a voice for the children’s book industry.

The children loved having Ursula visit and had plenty of great questions for her to answer.

Thank you to the New England Writer’s Centre and The Children’s Book Council Armidale Branch for subsidizing this wonderful event for our schools.

Book Week

Book week this week at St Mary’s has been very busy.

Thank you to all the students who have created a curious creature or performed a rap or poem. We have some very talented boys and girls.

A big thank you to all families who have donated a book. You can still do this if you wish.

We are looking forward to viewing the Meerkat digital productions of 2 shortlisted books, Three and The Little Wave. All students will view the online performance this week.
