Classroom News - Year 4

Mrs Ross and Mr Norrie

Year 4 has hit the ground running in Term 4, with loads of things happening in Week 1 and Week 2 only continuing to keep all students busy. It has been great to see the large majority of Year 4 settle into their last term of stage 2, in preparation for becoming seniors of the school next year.

Week 1 included a visit from children's book Author Ursula Dubosarsky. Ursula met and spoke to Year 3 and 4 on Thursday last week explaining her love of reading and writing, Ursula told the story of why and how she became an author. Ursula shared some of the stories behind the books she has written and answered some incredibly good questions asked by Year 3 and 4 students.

Year 4 started their new unit in Science in Week 1 which is "From the Paddock", we have been looking at all things agriculture both new and old. Year 4 have sprouted beans in the aim to have flowering and harvestable beans by the end of Term 4. The beans will be planted late in Week 2 or early Week 3, meaning soil choice and watering quantities will need to be chosen very soon.

In our English block for Term 4  we are looking at poetry which has grabbed the attention of many Year 4 students with funny rhymes and figurative language, we look forward to bringing you some amazing and amusing poetry by the end of Term 4.

Maths this term has found a new love of money for some Year 4 students. Their eagerness to create budgets and look for the cheapest prices for everyday items has given Mrs Ross and Mr Norrie loads of confidence that Year 4 will be paying the bills very shorty.
