Kangan Experience Day Docklands

On Thursday August 4th, Year 11 students interested in the automotive industry were invited to attend the Kangan Institute in Docklands for an Experience Day at the Automotive Centre of Excellence (ACE) Campus. As one of the best pathways into the auto industry, the aim of this practical experience is that our students will take the skills and knowledge they have learnt and develop a clearer understanding of what career and further study pathways they would like to pursue. The students participated in interactive sessions with support from Kangan students and teachers, including a pit-stop challenge of changing and rotating tyres on a motor car, virtual reality autobody spray-painting and replicating the auto electrical current used in electric cars through a hands-on experiment.

The students were also lucky enough to tour the entire facility, get up close and personal with a rebuilt supercar and meet Australian racing driver and Bathurst 2021 champion Lee Holdsworth from Grove Racing.

It is not necessary for young people to be planning on attending Kangan Institute, the purpose is for these students to explore their pathways and develop their career action plans. These students, as well as all Craigieburn Secondary students, will have the opportunity to discuss these pathways with their teachers and education support staff and be able to realign their study goals.

Thank you to the students involved who were active and positive participants throughout the day and staff look forward to hosting more experience days like this for our students.
