Meet the Board

The Girton Grammar School Board is currently made up of ten members who are responsible for the overall strategic direction of the School. 

The Board’s major responsibilities include oversight of the School’s mission and values, the Girton Grammar School Strategic Plan 2023-2028, and the Girton Grammar School Master Plan 2023-2033. The Board also has responsibilities with regard to financial oversight of the School, especially in relation to the fee structure and expansion of buildings and facilities.

The composition of the Board is broad, with a range of professional skills represented by its members. Over the next few editions of eLink, we would like to introduce our Board members to the Girton community.

This week, we would like to introduce you to board member, Mr Andrew Hosking.

My role on the Board:

As a member of the Girton Board, I hold two roles - Chair of the Finance Committee and Chair of Campus Development and Major Projects Committee (CDMPC). In these positions, I work to oversee the financial management of the School, as well as develop and execute strategies for enhancing the School's infrastructure and facilities.

My connection with Girton:

My connection with Girton started almost five years ago when my daughter started attending in 2018. Currently, I have two children at the School, both in Frew House. My daughter Charli is in Year 8, while my son Thom is in Year 6.

My background and experience:

As a qualified Chartered Accountant, I have over two decades of experience in financial management and analysis. 

In my most recent role, I commenced as Head of Finance/CFO at the Portable Long Service Authority in Bendigo, where I oversee all aspects of financial management. Prior to joining the Portable Long Service Authority, I spent approximately 20 years in various roles at Bendigo Bank, where I am currently working in the Finance Division. 

Throughout my career, I have gained valuable experience in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and risk management. My time at Ernst & Young, where I worked in audit, provided me with a strong foundation in accounting principles.

Motivation for joining the Board:

I have a deep passion for Bendigo and am proud to represent this community. I believe that Bendigo's continued success depends on providing students with access to the best possible education to produce well-rounded individuals who can contribute positively to society. 

As a strong School, Girton can attract and retain some of the best educators in Bendigo, contributing to the city's growth and prosperity and preparing our ‘departing Girtonians’ with the skills to succeed in both their personal and professional lives.

Furthermore, I believe that my financial background and experience can assist Girton in achieving its goals. With my expertise, I can make meaningful contributions to the financial management of the School, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively to achieve the School's objectives. 

Overall, I am thrilled to be part of the Girton Board and look forward to helping the School reach new heights.
