Paige Seaton - Gymnastics

Paige Seaton in Year 9 recently achieved some remarkable performances in Gymnastics. At the State Championships earlier this year Paige placed 3rd overall on Level 8, qualifying her to represent NSW at Border Challenge in Caloundra, where she competed on the Vault, Bars, Beam and Floor giving her a day one result of 2nd place overall and 7th overall on the second day. Paige also competed in the team event to help take out the bronze medal. At our assembly on Wednesday 24 July the College had the opportunity to see videos from these Championships. Her skill levels are outstanding and everyone was most impressed by her efforts. Well done Paige.

Opens' Rugby League

On Wednesday 3 July eight senior students and Mr Bernie Williams travelled to O’Connor Catholic College Armidale to take part in a combined Opens' Rugby League game MCC/O’Connor Catholic College against Armidale Secondary College. The event was a charity game to raise awareness for mental health and suicide prevention. It was also an opportunity to celebrate NAIDOC week with some guest speakers, music, junior games and girls' league tag.

In a thrilling game, MCC/O’Connor finished 24-22 victors. The game was played in great spirit and intensity. The combined team of McCarthy Catholic College and O’Connor Catholic College Armidale  showed great teamwork to overcome a physical Armidale Secondary College team. Liam Ball played an outstanding game where his brilliant attacking game earned him the Man of the Match honours. A big thank you to O’Connor Catholic College for hosting such a great day and providing the boys with a complimentary lunch. To Mr Bernie Williams for taking the boys on the bus and helping coach them, thank you for your efforts. The team included; Liam Ball, Nicholas Hannan, Nicholas Minton, Thomas Lange, Nicholas Taggart, Izack Fox, Luke Wallace, Ethan Russell, and Thomas Ferguson.
