University Information Evening for Senior Students and Parents 2019

This annual event was held on Wednesday 24 July in the first week of this term. The night provided an overview of what is involved and what needs to be considered when applying to university. Of special interest to parents who attended was information on the financial expectations and opportunities involved in university study.  Some Year 11 parents said it was very useful in giving them an idea of what is required in the future and gave them time to prepare financially. A selection of booklets and brochures were made available at the evening.

The general advice for current Year 12 students was to firstly concentrate on their upcoming Trial HSC exams and then switch their thinking to applying for university, scholarships, early entry and accommodation.

Guest Speakers

Earlier this week two major local employers gave a presentation to interested students on the range of jobs they have available to students both in school and whenever they leave.

They offer a range of:

- School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships

- full time Apprenticeships and Traineeships

- labouring jobs

- gap year jobs.

Students in Years 9,10, 11 and 12 attended.  The presentations were an initiative of a local working group on Youth Employment and organised through the Regional Department of Premier and Cabinet.

Term 3

This is an important term for many of our students:

Year 12  with applications, Open days, important dates, deadlines and decisions to be made

Year 11 with their end of Year 11 exams prior to possibly thinking of making changes to their pattern of study for the HSC

Year 10 with a strong focus on subject selection for Year 11 2020 or seeking employment and other options instead of continuing on to Year 11
