Assistant Principal - Curriculum

On Tuesday 23 July, a large number of McCarthy teachers attended an Australian College of Educators evening to hear inspirational Maths teacher, and Australian Local Hero, Eddie Woo, in a presentation entitled Innovative Teaching. The presentation challenged the audience to look at learning as wilderness exploration, where explorers often get lost. However, this is not to be considered a barrier, but as an opportunity for discovery. He emphasised the joy and privilege of working with students to 'pioneer' attitudes to learning that encourage exploration, creativity and openness; where students view 'getting lost' as a first step to discovering something new. It was certainly a thought-provoking evening and exciting to see Mr 'Wootube' in action.

We wish the Year 12 students well as they begin their Trial HSC examinations shortly. It was very pleasing to see so many avail themselves of the opportunity to do additional work during the recent holiday period.

Congratulations to Mrs Raelene Maxworthy who travels to Melbourne this weekend where she will be presented with a Graduate Certificate in Education: Assessment of Student Learning at the Australian Council for Educational research. We are very proud of you and grateful to be the beneficiaries of your ongoing learning.
