Prayer and Reflection

Family Prayer

God, our Father,

we are brothers and sisters in

Jesus your Son,

one family, in the spirit of Your love.

Bless us with the joy of love.

Make us patient and kind, gentle and generous,

welcoming to those in need.

Help us to live your forgiveness and peace.

Protect all families with your loving care,

especially those for whom we now pray;

[We pause and remember family members and

others by name].

Increase our faith, strengthen our hope,

keep us safe in your love,

Make us always grateful for the gift of life that we share.

This we ask, through Christ our Lord,

Amen.

Marriage & Family Week

Bishop Michael Kennedy has designated the week ending 28 July as Marriage and Family Week for the Armidale Diocese. The theme for Marriage and Family Week is ‘The Family: School of Virtue’. During this week, we pause to remember that the home and family is the primary place where faith and core values are nurtured and passed on. The most significant way this happens is by allowing our children to see how faith is lived out on a daily basis. As parents (and teachers) it is good practice to reflect on the areas of our faith life where we can improve our own active witness; for example openly talking about God, showing practical concern for others in need, speaking openly about all the positive aspects of the Church.

In order to mark Marriage and Family Week at McCarthy, Year 11 students have been able to listen to three Catholic married couples from St Nicholas’ parish speak about their own personal journey to married life, their experiences of marriage and raising families in the faith. On behalf of the students, I would like to thank David and Elise Smith, Henry and Kate Buckman and Michael and Laura Murray who set time aside to come and speak openly with our students about their marriages and family life as young Catholics.

St Vinnies

Thank you to those families who have already donated to the Vinnies Winter Appeal, the College is still accepting donations of blankets and items of warm children's clothing.

Condolences

Our thoughts and prayers are with Nicholas and Benjamin O'Connor and their family and Liam Thompson and his family following the passing of their respective grandfathers.
