2023 McK Chess Grand Prix (Main & East)

After almost 400 games of chess over two terms, countless lunchtime sessions across the Main and East Campuses, and in the biggest (in terms of participation) chess event at McKinnon to date, the 2023 McK Chess Grand Prix came to a masterful end last week.

On Monday 22 May, the finals for the East Campus competition concluded with a round robin playoff between four top players. In the end, Aaron Todes 9B came out victorious, closely followed by Luka Dodos 8I (2nd), Alex Do 9G (3rd) and Khiem Tran 9C (4th). The 5th and 6th places go to Linh Nguyen 8F and Aryan Rokhade 8I respectively.

Weekly lunchtime session

Despite the conclusion of the Chess GP tournament, more social chess is happening weekly on Wednesdays at the Main Campus (Room A07 & A08) and on the Thursdays at the East Campus (Room V2.6). McK Chess Club is totally free for everyone and no signup is required. Simply show up and play!

Important note: No food is allowed inside. Also, the club usually won’t begin until 10-15 mins into the 1st half of lunch, so please eat your lunch first then come to the chess club.
