STUDENT ID CARDS
I would like to encourage all students to please bring their student ID cards with them when they visit the library. The library is often busy and loud; student ID cards help staff with the speed and accuracy of issuing loans. Student ID cards also make printing, photocopying and scanning easier and quicker. Thank you.
NATIONAL RECONCILIATION WEEK
From Saturday 27 May – Saturday 3 June is National Reconciliation Week. These dates commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey - the successful 1967 referendum, and the High Court Mabo decision respectively.
National Reconciliation Week provides a focus for working towards the goal of a just equitable and reconciled Australia. This week we have a library display featuring relevant books by First Nations authors.
BOOK OF THE WEEK
The following books have been featured during the last fortnight:
Glimpse by Jane Higgins
The D-Zone has been abandoned by the city government because it cannot be repaired. It's off limits because the continuous earthquakes could wipe out what's left. Jonah, Bas, and everyone else who is attempting to survive amid the chaos there, however, are unable to escape since they are "illegals," without citizenship, and without rights. A post-apocalyptic fiction suitable for all ages.
This is the Way the World Ends by Jen Wilde
Jen Wilde's debut thriller, This Is the Way the World Ends brings together masquerade, mystery, murder and mayhem and the end of the world. This action-packed thriller is set in a prestigious private school in New York City at the annual masquerade ball. A school for the wealthy and elite, scholarship student Waverley is an outsider. Then Waverley witnesses a murder, and the fairy tale turns to survival.
