STATE CHAMPIONS
On Friday 19 May, the Senior Girls competed at the SSV State Finals for Volleyball.
After beating Hume Central SC, Holy Trinity Lutheran Horsham and Wodonga Senior SC in the pool play, the McKinnon girls continued the clean sweep to win the Semifinal against Bendigo Senior SC. In the Grand Final, Maribyrnong challenged us to one set all, but we were victorious in the 3rd set. The McKinnon girls played the best volleyball I have seen them play, so impressive and certainly deserving to win and to be named the State Champions.
I am so proud of the McKinnon girls for training so hard over the years and being able to lift and play cool under pressure situations. Well done to Molly Forehan (Year 12) for her leadership and setting magnificently all day, allowing all our hitters and blockers to also shine.
Great team effort!

SENIOR BOYS HOCKEY
Thursday 25 May was a great day! It was filled with the highs of 2 wins and the disappointment of 1 loss. Keegan Pengilly and Lucas O’Donoghue provided highlights with multiple goals for the day respectively, Farhan Hussain and Chetan Talluriplayed well in defence and Brandon Davis kept us in it for large parts of our close loss to Parkdale.
The boys came back to win against Beaumaris, then unfortunately lost 2-1 to champs Parkdale and ended it well by smashing rivals Bentleigh 4-0. All in all, the lads gave 100% effort, especially in the rain, cheers to Fartho and others for organising and making it possible.

INTERMEDIATE GIRLS SOCCER
On Thursday 11 May, the intermediate Girls Soccer team set off to Dendy Park to compete for our district title. Our first game was against Brighton where we endured and maintained a steady lead of 3-0. Parkdale was up next, and we were all ready to accumulate the win again through working hard until the final whistle, we attained the win of 4-1. Our 3rd game was against Beaumaris. It was a tough battle however through our perseverance and endurance we held them off with a score of 0-0.
In our final game against Bentleigh, we knew that we had to win in order to be champions. Our constant fight for the ball guided us to a win of 4-0. This meant that we acquired the title of Kingston champions, coming home with the Victory.

YEAR 8 VOLLEYBALL
Congratulations to both Year 8 Girls and Boys Volleyball teams winning Kingston Division by defeating Brighton, Parkdale, Mordialloc, Westall, Bentleigh and Sandringham. Both teams made the Southern Metropolitan Region Volleyball Finals.
On Monday 8 May, the McKinnon Boys won against Dromana, McClelland and Cranbourne East in their pool games to reach the final. They defeated in a very close game against Albert Park in two sets to be Southern Metropolitan Region Champions and will represent McKinnon in the State Final in November.
The McKinnon Girls won against Mount Eliza, McClelland and Cranbourne West in their pool games to reach the final against Serius College. The final was very close, hard-fought game where the girls just lost in the third set to be Runners-up in the Southern Metropolitan Region.
