PERFORMING ARTS

PERFORMANCE SEASON CONTINUES APACE!

We are continuing an exciting and inspiring season of performances from our talented and hardworking students.

GIGS ON THE GREEN - MAIN CAMPUS

On Wednesday 24 & Thursday 25 May, students from the Year 12 VCE Music Performance class were invited to perform a piece from their recital program at the Gigs on the Green in the Theatre. There were some outstanding performances by our talented students, showcasing the range of performers we have at the school.

Congratulations to Antonia Darmos, Radion Gubaydullin, Seffra Tienstra, Mabel Green, Hugo Tran, Talicia Brown, Hadyn Collier, Ezekiel Sianipar and Sasha Finn

SOUNDS ON THE GROUNDS - EAST CAMPUS

Congratulations to members of Year 9 Band “Nothing Stuck”, Rhapsody Borrirak, Sapphire Thomas-Sam, Eran Goldin and Tommaso Battiston, for their performance at the Sounds on the Grounds on Friday, and for kicking off the gigging season at the East Campus. These students have worked really hard preparing their first performance and they sounded absolutely terrific! We look forward to more live music as part of the Sounds on the Grounds series in the coming months.

STRING NIGHT

On Thursday 18 May the annual String Night was held in the Alan Lawrence Theatre. It was a showcase of some of the talented string students McKinnon has to offer. The evening featured large string ensembles, extension ensembles, chamber music and VCE soloists.

Congratulations to all the students who performed, and many thanks to Clare Bugeja for her organisation of the event, as well as the string staff (Stuart Cook, Georgina Mead, Christine Vincent, Andrew Albanis and Jill Griffiths) for their preparation of the students. Thank you also to Blanka West and Karen Neumann for providing piano accompaniment.

YEAR 11 THEATRE STUDIES SHOWING

The Year 11 Theatre Studies class presented three scenes from the plays of celebrated playwright Anton Chekhov. This marked the culmination of their semester of learning about the pre-modern theatre styles and exploration of the tools of the actor and director to interpret a script. A large crowd turned out to support these students as they build their skills towards staging a full production at the end of this year.
