GECPA Term 4

“The key is not to prioritize what’s on your schedule, but to schedule your priorities’. Stephen Convoy

Join your Parents Association in 2023

The Glen Eira College Parents Association (GECPA) is an active, friendly group of parents and carers of students at the College.

Did you know that there is a link between parental involvement in the school and academic achievement?

That’s a great reason to get involved with GECPA in 2023. But wait - there’s more:

We support the school community.

We act as a link between our parent community and GEC.

We represent an organised, parent perspective.

We provide parents and carers of students at GEC with a voice.

We support the school community by hosting events and sharing information.

We are involved in fundraising for the school.

Plus – joining GECPA is a great way to meet other parents and carers at the school who share your enthusiasm.

We meet once a month. All parents and carers of students at GEC are welcome to attend our meetings. Your level of involvement is entirely up to you. Even part-time involvement will be appreciated. Contact us for meeting dates in 2023 and get involved: gecpa@gec.vic.edu.au

We communicate with parents and carers via email, newsletters, Facebook and Instagram. Email is the easiest way for you to find out what is happening. Please click here to subscribe

Wishing everyone at GEC a safe and happy holiday!

GECPA Committee Roles

We NEED volunteers for various GECPA Committee roles. Please get in touch if you can help! Join us for our AGM in Booran Reserve. It will be a BBQ event Thursday 15 December from 6.30pm onwards.  We hope to see you there.

Election BBQ Fundraiser

A huge thank you to all those parents and carers who supported the Victorian Election Day Fundraiser. All funds raised will go toward new College seating.

Second Hand Uniforms

The uniform sale will be on Tuesday 13th Dec at 3pm-4pm outside the library.

Please donate your unwanted uniform items to the office as a donation to the school - families will not receive any payment for their items.  Please ensure that all items are in reasonable condition and have been washed and dried before you bring them in. Please note that we cannot sell items that are no longer part of the college uniform, such as polar fleece jackets or the older-style all grey sports tops (sports tops in the current style - with red sleeves- are very welcome).

Year 11 and 12 Maths - Scientific Calculators Collection

Are your students finishing with a scientific calculator at the end of the year and would like to donate it to the school? Please leave any spare scientific calculators at the school office after VCE exams so the Wellbeing Coordinator can distribute to needy students. Please don’t let your students throw them in the bin as they are expensive and valuable for other students!

Congratulations to our very own Cathy McNaughton

Cathy won a Caulfield electorate Victorian Parliament volunteer award ‘in recognition of commitment and contribution to environment and climate change’ with Glen Eira Emergency Climate Action Network committee. Cathy won a similar award in 2014 for school grounds plantings – following 2013 UN World Environment Day Schools Award for schools indigenous plantings at Caulfield Primary School.

Well done, Cathy!
