YEAR 10 EAL

This Semester Year 10 EAL students participated in the Ardoch Youth Foundation Literacy Buddies® letter writing program. The highly successful letter writing program gives businesses and workplaces an opportunity to engage with our students. The program is designed to give students a real life context to practice their writing and composition skills. Through connecting with a ‘Big Buddy’ students were motivated to exchange letters throughout the school year. The exchange is also aimed at building the aspirations of students by bringing them into contact with successful working role models. The students recently enjoyed meeting their Big Buddies and the Maribyrnong Mayor in person at the Maribyrnong Council offices. To the delight of all involved, students participated in discussions about school-study-work pathways, aspirational thinking and discovered how they can make real connections between school, local communities and businesses.
