WORLD CHALLENGE

In a recent meeting, our World Challenge students came together to negotiate their priorities for their upcoming trip to Morocco. Together, the team prioritised their goals for the month long expedition which includes once in a life time experiences such as engaging with remote communities, working with locals to improve living conditions, trekking through gorges nestled within the Atlas Mountain range, overnight camel rides through Erg Chebbi in the Sahara Desert, and negotiating prices at the food markets in Casablanca before being taught how to cook up the most delicious Moroccan tagine by a local family!

During the lead up to and throughout the entire trip, the students will take the lead in every way possible - through organising group fundraising, managing their daily budget while in country, booking accommodation & transport for the entire team, ultimately, working as a team to achieve their goals while also learning from their mistakes!

Following the student meeting, the families of all students involved were invited to join us at which point the group presented to their families exactly what decisions they had made, and what they had prioritised for their expedition! All of the students participated extremely well in both the trip negotiations as a team, as well as presenting these ideas to their families independently.

Early next year, the World Challenge team members will be attending an overnight training expedition to put their trekking skills (and hiking gear) to the test. The aims of this training expedition is to prepare all team members for life on an expedition where they will be expected to lead and run their own trip. It is also a brilliant opportunity for the group to begin working as a team under arduous conditions!

Please keep an eye out for the group's future fundraising endeavors which will include, things such as selling icy poles at school to make those hot sticky Summer days even stickier, Pie drives - great for stocking up the freezer, raffles, and movie nights at the local cinema.
