Inspiration to shine
On Tuesday, the 6th of September, our VCE Music performance students were lucky enough to have multi-instrumentalist, producer, and arranger Ross Irwin visit for a performance workshop.
Ross Irwin has been a go-to guy for Paul Kelly, Passenger, Angus and Julia Stone, Josh Pyke, Thelma Plum, Seth Sentry, The Paper Kites, Brooke Fraser, Gossling, You Am I, Washington, The Cat Empire, and The Bamboos, as well as working with international music legends Brian May and Roger Taylor (Queen), Suzi Quatro, Belle and Sebastian, Tony Hadley (Spandau Ballet), Stax legend Eddie Floyd, Ben Elton, Patrick Watson, and that's just to name a small few.
It was a fantastic learning experience for our VCE music students. The group presented works for the upcoming VCE music performance night, with Ross working with them to further refine and develop performance works in an open forum workshop setting. In addition, students had the opportunity to ask questions about life as a working musician and gain incredible insight into the inner working of the music industry.
Well done to our wonderful VCE students, and thank you, Ross, for taking the time to visit our school!
If you'd like to be a part of our instrumental and ensemble music program in 2023, please reach out to our head of music, Luke Devenish.
Enrolments for 2023 will be open soon!
Thanks
