Society and Culture
On the weekend of 3rd and 4th of June, Society and Culture students Jorgia Laing, RJ Nacman, and Elizabeth Simpson represented Wyndham College at a Model UN Day at Nepean CAPA High School. The Wyndham College students were the acting delegates for Australia.
They spoke to a range of resolutions that included:
Not to mention a resolution from the floor - Nuclear Arms under the sea. Australia was at the heart of a robust debate regarding nuclear-powered submarines, AUKUS and the safety of nations. The team moved the Rule of law referencing Ukraine and they did so well convincing members and speaking with such conviction that the motion was carried.
Australia did really well at forming connections with other members - many treaties were made and lamingtons went a long way in schmoozing not only the allies but the judges and Secretary-General too.
A very big thank you goes to our sponsor Robert Bredin at Norwest Sunrise Rotary Club who sponsored our team to enable us to participate.
