Student Volunteering Program

NEW : Student Volunteering Program at Wyndham College

Students are invited to participate in volunteering opportunities while at school to build skills, gain certificates and recognition for post school pathways.

Students can collect a Volunteer Log card from the front office and book a time with any staff member to volunteer during the Study Periods.

Students will not be permitted to miss scheduled classes to volunteer or volunteer in the same class as their friends. One volunteer per class and the teacher must agree and assign tasks.  Below are the benefits of volunteering and the reward system attached.

Volunteering offers numerous benefits for high school students, ranging from personal growth to increased chances of receiving scholarships when applying to university.

Personal Development: Volunteering allows students to develop essential life skills such as leadership, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving.

Experiential Learning: By actively participating in volunteer projects, students can gain practical knowledge, apply theoretical concepts to real-life situations, and explore their interests and passions.

Networking Opportunities: Volunteering offers students a chance to connect with a diverse range of people, including professionals, community leaders, and fellow volunteers. Building a network through volunteering can open doors to mentorship, internships, and valuable references for future endeavours, including scholarships.

Demonstrating Commitment: Consistent and dedicated volunteer service showcases a student's commitment to making a positive impact. Admissions committees and scholarship providers appreciate candidates who actively engage in their communities, as it demonstrates their initiative, dedication, and willingness to contribute to the greater good.

Stand Out in Scholarship Applications: When applying for scholarships, volunteer experiences can make a significant difference. Students can showcase their volunteer work in their application essays, highlighting the skills they gained, the challenges they overcame, and the impact they made.

Community Involvement Scholarships: Many universities and external organizations offer scholarships specifically for students with a strong commitment to community service.

Remember, volunteering not only enhances scholarship opportunities but also fosters personal growth, helps students explore their passions, and allows them to make a positive impact on their communities.
