Students are reminded that applications fort the 2021 ADF Gap Year program close soon. Gap
Year opportunities are available in the Navy, Army and Air Force and the closing dates for the
various roles do differ, so please check the closing dates at ADF GAP YEAR.

2020 ACMF National Songwriting Competition
The 2020 ACMF National Songwriting Competition is now open.
Every year, students from schools across Australia are invited to put pen to paper and enter their original song in the competition.
Entry is free for students from Years 1-12.
Winners receive prize-money which can be allocated towards musical equipment or tuition.
Entries for the competition close on Monday 3 August.

The Lester Prize Youth Award encourages the creative talents of young and aspiring artists. It is open to all High School students across Australia.
Entrants are encouraged to submit a portrait of an Australian.
The Prize allows entrants to showcase their works and present their unique artistic perspectives; helps build their confidence to further their art practice; and allows them to share their stories with the wider community.
Entries are open until Friday 24 July.

Entries are open to the Boroondara Literary Awards.
There are two categories to enter: the Young Writers’ Competition, open to writers in Years 5-12 who live work or study in Boroondara, and the Open Short Story Competition, open to all writers from across Australia.
The Young Writers’ Competition offers $5,000 in prize money across various sections. The Open Short Story Competition awards $1,500 to its first place winner.

Sydney Hammond Short Story Writing Competition 2020
Hawkeye Publishing are now looking for entries to the 2020 Sydney Hammond Short Story Writing Competition.
This year, the theme is “if only…”. Writers are encouraged to enter stories up to 1000 words in length.
The winner will receive a $250 Hawkeye Publishing Gift Voucher, plus an anthology cover based on their story.
