State Cross Country

Last Thursday (18 July), Kiara M (6B) competed in the State Cross Country at Bundoora which is a HUGE achievement! Kiara’s goal was to finish in the Top 20 and she did that by finishing 18th overall out of 93 competitors. As always, Kiara took everything in her stride and gave her best effort.

An amazing experience to finish your last Primary School Cross Country at the very top.  A shining star is our Kiara!

Year 5/6 District AFL

Last Friday (19 July), the Year 5/6 AFL team played in the District versus District Interschool Sport Final at Patterson Lakes Primary School. The boys fought hard and the scores don’t reflect how tough the game was, but in the end BNPS were victorious and won the game quite convincingly. Final score: 56-29. A great achievement to win their own District and then go on to beat the winners of another District!

Unfortunately, Ollie P, our No. 1 Ruckman, had to leave the ground after a collision and was unable to participate for the rest of the game. Thank you to Mr Farmer and Mr Mac for coaching and umpiring.

Year 5/6 Division AFL

On Monday (22 July), the Year 5/6 AFL team played in the Divisional Final at Bonbeach Reserve. They played three games in a Round Robin format (2 X 15 min halves).

BNPS vs St Patrick's Mentone

17 – 30

BNPS vs Mentone Grammar

36 - 0

BNPS vs St Louis de Montfort's

16 – 13

Two out of three wins was a top effort by the boys who played even harder for Ollie P who was unable to participate. Unfortunately, the boys do not progress to the next level as St Patrick's won all of their matches.

Thanks to Mr Farmer for coaching the team on the day and to Mr Michael Cutler (parent) for travelling to and from venue on the bus and supporting the team. Our best result for Boys AFL for many, many years. Great work BNPS!!!

Year 6 District Mixed Netball

Last Friday (19 July), the Year 6 Mixed Netball Team played in the District versus District Interschool Sport Final at Patterson Lakes Primary School. The team were prepared to play a tough match against a tough team and at the end of the first quarter, BNPS had shot 15 goals straight to a 0 score for the other team! The team could then put on the brakes a little and start to trial some tactical and positional plays. They played with maximum heart and effort which was fantastic to see, with the final score – 56-12. Thanks to Mrs Hall for coaching and umpiring on the day.

The team now progress to the Kingston Divisional Play Offs on Thursday 1 August where they will compete in a Round Robin against five other schools potentially. There will be two initial rounds with a Pool A and B where winners will progress to the Final. The BNPS community wish you all the best for the day!

Year 6 Girls Footy Division Round Robin Day

The Year 6 Girls Football team progressed through to the Division Round Robin Day after finishing in the top 2 of their competition last term making them eligible to move forward to the next level.

The girls will be toughing it out against six other schools on Monday 29 July with coach Mr Mac. The BNPS community wish you all the best for the day.

Swimming Program (Prep - Year 3)

Over the last two weeks, students in Prep - Year 3 participated in a Swim & Survive Program at SwimRight which incorporated a wide range of aquatic skills including water safety, survival techniques and swimming skill development. The change of venue for this year's swimming has been very well received by staff, parents and students.

Thank you to all the parents who gave up their time to help staff and students by travelling with us on the buses to and from pool, and assisting in the change rooms before and after the lesson. We couldn’t run this program without your help!

Golfing Achievement

Congratulations to Harrison C (6C) who recently competed in the Golf Australia Junior Tournament. Harry took out Division C of the competition and due to his score, he also won overall (beating a total of 102 competitors!). Harry is pictured below with the Perc Morling Trophy (awarded by the Woodlands Golf Club for the best stableford score).

Well done Harry!
