Maths Update & Resources

What’s happening in Maths in Year 2?

We have been using the Maths Daily 3 to help us to practise our Maths learning. In our Maths Daily 3 there are 3 different ways to practise our Maths. Maths with Someone, Maths by Ourselves and Writing about Maths.

Our favourite activity is Maths with Someone because there are so many things you can do with other people that are tricky to do just by yourself, we can even play games!

When we are getting organised for Maths we always:

  • Stay in one spot
  • Work on stamina
  • Get started straight away
  • Work quietly

It is great to use the Maths Daily 3 in our classrooms because it helps us to learn more about Maths and practise our learning while we also get to choose our own activities. We love our Maths Daily 3 Learning!

EdShop Maths

Our school subscribes to EdShop Maths and receives weekly worded Maths based problems based on current topics shared in the media. Not only do students learn about current events, they also build on their problem-solving skills. There are four levels of difficulty (lower, middle, upper and extension) and the questions cover all areas of the Maths curriculum. Here are some for you to work on with your child at home (PDFs for each level attached below).
