Parkdale Shines at State Swimming Championships!
Parkdale Secondary College had a sensational showing at the State Swimming Championships held at MSAC, with our students delivering outstanding performances and proudly representing our school.
A huge congratulations to Maddeleine Harvey of year 9, who was a standout across the day, taking home five State Titles — an extraordinary achievement that highlights her dedication and talent in the pool. Overall, Maddy claimed state titles in the following events:
Girls 15 200m Freestyle
Girls 15 50m Butterfly
Girls 15 50m Freestyle
Girls 15 50m Backstroke
Girls 12-15 200m Individual Medley
Our relay teams also showed incredible teamwork, with strong finishes across the board, including 2nd place in the Girls 15 4 x 50m Freestyle and 3rd place in the Girls 14 4 x 50m Freestyle results. The 15–16 Girls Medley Relay team came heartbreakingly close to the podium, finishing 4th by just 0.3 of a second in a thrilling race.
In the individual events:
Lachlan Waring (Year 7) impressed with a 5th place finish in the breaststroke — an excellent result in his first year at this level.
Lillee Lynch powered through to finish 4th in the butterfly, narrowly missing out on a medal.
Eden Benton (Year 7) achieved a personal best in the 50m freestyle and secured a 6th place finish, another excellent result in her debut of secondary school swimming
Well done to all of our swimmers — your commitment, sportsmanship, and team spirit were on full display. Parkdale is incredibly proud of each and every one of you!
State Diving Success at MSAC
On April 30th, three Parkdale students represented our school at the SMR and State Diving Championships held at MSAC. To qualify for the state competition, each student first had to win their event in the Southern Metropolitan Region (SMR) — a remarkable achievement in itself.
All three competitors performed exceptionally well on the day, demonstrating skill, focus, and determination. A special congratulations goes to Max Tempest (Year 12), who was crowned State Champion in the Boys 17–20 category!
Results:
Max Tempest (Year 12) – 1st Place – State Champion
Lily Clancy (Year 12) – 4th Place in the State
Mikayla Thistlewaite – 4th Place in the State
Well done to all three students for their outstanding performances and for proudly representing Parkdale on the state stage!
Year 7 & 8 Cross Country Trials
In Week 2, our Year 7 and 8 students took part in the cross country trial events at Walter Galt Reserve. Tackling a 3km course, students challenged themselves to set personal bests, race their friends, or simply complete the run — and they did so with great determination and spirit.
Every participant gave their best effort, and we’re proud to share that the top 10 finishers in each age group have qualified to represent PSC at the upcoming Kingston Cross Country event. This will take place on Tuesday, 4th June at Karkarook Park.
Congratulations to all students for their fantastic efforts and sportsmanship!
