VCE and Careers Expo
On Friday May 2nd, a group of our year 11 students attended the VCE and Careers Expo at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. The event brought together universities, TAFEs, training providers, and industry representatives, offering insights into post-school pathways. Students explored a wide range of options, attended seminars on VCE subjects, and asked questions about future study and career choices. It was a fantastic chance to gather information, clarify goals, and start thinking more deeply about life after school.
Year 11 Futures Program
Our Year 11 students recently took part in Parkdale Secondary College’s Futures Program. The program is designed to help Year 11s think beyond school and start refining their post school pathway.
The week was started off with a workshop from Tyson Day of 'Arrive and Thrive'. Students explored how to design a career that aligns with their values and sense of purpose. Tyson’s session encouraged students to think not only about what they want to do, but why they want to do it. Through discussion and activities, students learned how understanding their personal values can be a powerful tool when navigating an ever-changing world of work.
In addition to exploring career purpose, students also took part in goal-setting activities, helping them clarify their aspirations and identify the practical steps needed to achieve them.
The week concluded with a visit to a university campus. Students participated in workshops, enjoyed a campus tour and had a firsthand look at life after school and what a day in the life of a university student can look like.
